“Beat you next week!” How to write so your niche blog audience relates.

You know, niche blogging ideas can emerge from the strangest of places.
No, I’m not talking about praying to the All Powerful Blog Idea Faerie, or dropping your freshly-made piping hot morning coffee onto your pajama-clad nether regions, or even absently-mindedly commenting to your darling children:
"No dear, we do NOT use Mommy’s newly folded clothing as the scratch pad for your Elmer glueing (ohmigosh wow, what a magnificent blogging topic!)"
Instead, I’m referring to tried and true testosterone-fueled ability of speaking with your fists before opening your mouth…and having that be a Good Thing, to boot.
Can you imagine how?
Hmmmm?
Don’t rush, I’ll wait - I have to refill my next cup of coffee and provide my parakeets with their birdieBath as well….
Okay, I’m back! The above can be a Good Thing when used in the proper context.
I’m speaking, of course, about Tuesday’s Karate Sparring class (I mean hey, isn’t that obvious?). I had just finished testing myself against a strapping young lad half my age (super fighter as well!) who gives me excellent advice in how to spar with gear on. After we had finished, he went over the 7,263 areas in which I can improve, and we both closed with a "Beat you next week!" comment of good bye.
"Beat you next week!" What a term of friendship!
And that of course made me think of blogging (you knew that was coming, didn’t you?). Let me now ask you:
"Do YOU write in ways to which your niche audience can relate?"
Well? Do you?
After all, every industry and niche and hobby and group and etc. has their own private language, their own acronyms, their own way of communicating with one another. When I’m talking with my martial arts colleagues, I can expound upon sparring jargon until the cows come home and demand a new condo, but when I’m talking to fellow moms, I can easily switch my dialogue and discuss maintaining patience while 4 kids converge upon you in a screaming frenzy with style and grace….while feverishly fighting off any new stray grey hairs that might want to attack.
In other words….each audience has its Own Best Way of Communicating Ideals!
Do you take advantage of that? No? Well then, here are some techniques you can use to help punch that emotional button with your readers as well.
Step 1.) Look up niche slang
Do you blog for the teen niche? Search for
You might see:
Using slang is an effective way to "talk the talk" your audiences experience in real life. You can apply it to virtually any hobby or niche you can imagine like:
Some excellent all-purposes sites you can use include:
Sprinke into your blog the applicable words you find and voila, you’re on the same page with your targeted audience.
Next, you can:
Step 2.) Look up niche glossaries.
Do you blog for the trucking industries? Search for
You might find
Does the fun never stop, I hear you ask? Heck no! Again, you can do the same thing with any industry:
- film production glossary
- camera glossary
- baby car seat glossary
beverage of the godscoffee glossary
Once you find useful words, you can compose blog postings around them.
And finally, you can:
Step 3.) Participate in Niche Communities
You’re probably already doing this…but if not, reading the posts that emanate from niche community forums can be quite the educational experience!!
Finding them are easy - just search for
- niche community
ie,
You’ll be able to uncover many excellent forums that center upon your niche…why not join and become a valued contributor? You can include a link to your blog in your signature, thus effectively marketing your blog as well.
I hope the above ideas spark some useful bits of creativity with you! Remember, these great ideas are useless….unless you choose to apply them for yourself.
ThankyouVeryMuch!
