Eliot Spitzer’s rep wasn’t built in a day, but his monetary value increased over a 1 million in less than 24 hours. Talk about an exponential growth!!
Over here in the Internet, it’s social networking that creates such an inferno. I was reminded of this when I read Skellie’s article Why you have to dig Digg to get Dugg this morning. To wit:
…You can’t win a game without knowing the rules, without being able to see the playing field, and without any knowledge of what kind of play works.
The most common question I get from bloggers who want to know about getting Dugg is this: should I start using Digg — is that necessary?
It’s absolutely necessary. While it’s not essential that you actively participate, you do need to dedicate time to studying the service you want to leverage. If you want to know how to create content that works on Digg, watch what does work, and learn from it.
Being an active observer is the single smartest thing you can do when it comes to social media success ….MORE…
What super advice! I highly recommend reading the rest of the article; it’s very insightful indeed.
It compelled me to want to learn more.
Thing is, though, there are TONs of How to Digg resources out there like:
- 11 Tips to Enhance Your Digg User Experience (and Hopefully Bring You Front Page Fame)
- Digg for Power Users
- Digg Tips - The Definitive Guide On How To Get Dugg
- Secrets to Success in Digg
- Digg Secrets Exposed
I wanted to zero in on some of the creative ideas I found…things that paradoxically soooo common-sense, most people ignore them because "golly, it’s can’t be THAT easy…."
As my motto is teach teach teach, I’m pleased to present to you the results of my findings.
1.) Make them beg to digg you.
Your readers are the one say Yay or Nay - give them content so supreme they’ll fall over their coffee cup in their rush to Digg you with a passion. From Blogging for Digg.
2.) Streamline your Digg activities.
There are tons of tools out there that can make your Digg experience far more streamlined, such as a Comment Viewer app, a Who’s Digging You app and more. Installing these will help reduce the time expended as an active Digger, allowing you concentrate upon the other 7,283 things you need to accomplish. From 12 Must-Have tools for active Digg users.
3.) Be appreciative.
It’s social, it’s networking…and taking the time to thank individuals for their digg/stumble/etc. can go a long way towards making that emotional impact on a reader and encouraging them to do more. From The Secret to Massive Digg/StumbleUpon Traffic.
4.) To grab new readers on a whim, add an avatar.
Makes perfect sense to me - just like killer headlines make your blog post stand out from the feedreader, an avatar gives a visual splash of color to grab the eyes. From 11 Tips to Enhance Your Digg User Experience (and Hopefully Bring You Front Page Fame)
5.) Create a RSS of your favorite Digg searches.
This serves to proactively alert you whenever stories containing your niche and precise and targeted keywords come up, allowing you to visit Digg and check them out. From Get what you want out of Digg.
Remember!
Digg is a culture with its own mores and norms…become part of that culture, and voila, you’re already on the way to making them beg to digg you.
ThankYouVeryMuch!
