Picture the following - the sun is shining, the birdies are mooing and all of a sudden it hits you like a freight train:
I WORSHIP HDTV!
I know, it’s a common occurence, isn’t it?
Seriously though, one of the best ways to generate an online income via blogging is to focus your blog on tangible items that people crave to buy…the more expensive the better.
…What was that I heard you ask? Why?
Ah, an excellent question! The more expensive an item is, generally…the more commission you’ll receive when someone buys it. See?
So! Let’s talk about HDTV (hi definition TV). It’s a superpopular subject out there! You only have to search Google News for HDTV:
to see all the news articles and blog postings and the like that center upon it. Not only that - there’s a plethora of HDTV communities, forums, blogs….a whole network out there from which you can profit.
And here’s how.
Step 1.) Set up a domain name and put a blog on it.
Sure, you can use something like hdtv.blogspot.com, but why be so, well, wimpy? Consider these domain names:

Step 2.) Get an Amazon and eBay affiliate ID.
This is critical, because these two programs will deliver the majority of your commissions.
Sign up HERE for Amazon.com and HERE for eBay.
Step 3.) Set up your HDTV Blog
There are two critical things you MUST do in this step:
- Add de-spam plugins (learn more here)
- Set up categories
- I’d recommend to start off simple, like:
- HDTV News
- HDTV Reviews
- HDTV Sales
- I’d recommend to start off simple, like:
Once you’ve done the above, you’re ready to start!
Step 4.) Grab HDTV Feeds
Go to Google and search for
Take time to look for targeted HDTV blogs and add them to your feedreader. This is how you’ll stay abreast of current HDTV news. You can also add feeds for HDTV forums as well.
Step 5.) Add "HDTV" to Google Alerts
Visit Google Alerts and set up an alert for
- HDTV
Make sure you select "Comprehensive" - that way, you’ll also be notified about HDTV blog updates, HDTV news updates, HDTV research updates, etc.
Step 6.) Embed eBay/Amazon HDTV products in your blog
Remember when you signed up for eBay and Amazon earlier? Go visit their sites now and look for tools to embed their HDTV offerings in your HDTV blog. For example, you can use the Editor Toolkit over at eBay, and the Amazon Products at Amazon. (NOTE! At Amazon, select "Electronics" as the sub-category).
Step 7.) Start to write HDTV content
Now you can start actually writing about HDTV! Because you’ve already embedded HDTV-related goodies via eBay and Amazon in your blog, every blog post you make will have money-making potential. It’s how I profit from Macgyver here on Ask Owlbert - those cute little Macgyver goodies are courtesty of eBay.
When I blog about niche items, I generally look for compelling commentary from other blogs and then research additional links for my readers. For example, I can uncover a typical HDTV news item, write about it, and then visit Amazon.com. Next, I’ll:
- Search for HDTV
- Click on Electronics
- Then sort by Best-Selling.
At the time of this writing, I found the Toshiba REGZA 42HL167 42-inch 1080p LCD HDTV was on sale at a 44% discount. WOW! That by itself would be worthy of a blog post:
JUST IN! Amazon.com offering 44% off of Toshiba REGZA 42HL167 42-inch 1080p LCD HDTV!
See what I mean? I would then close my blog post with a direct link to the product…that includes my affiliate ID as well:

Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-05-30 Summary: My Preciousssss! … I bought this TV about 3 months ago. I waited to write a review after putting it through a fairly extensive test period. This TV is nothing less than outstanding. The picture is gorgeous. The set looks humongous since it replaced a 26 inch LCD. It is a little heavier than I’d prefer, but having a swivel base surely helps. The default picture setting is set to “sports”, which has a very bright and unnatural color scheme. After playing with the regular setting choices, I found the “document” setting to be the best for …more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-05-05 Summary: Great Service, Great TV … It did take a while to recieve this TV and it was difficult to track, but it came as promised and not a minute sooner. The TV is great. Beautiful picture, quick and easy to set up…and I’m a girl. I just needed help lifting it to the TV stand I am using for it. I loved that I didn’t have to haul it from the store. It was delivered directly to the room where I set it up…and the shipping and tax were free. Great deal…better than I could find anywhere locally. I’ve played video games with the video game setting and …more
Editorial Reviews — … Product Description | Toshiba’s Regza line of TVs marry state-of-the-art technology to hip design. One feature that sets them apart is PixelPure 14-bit digital video processing, which creates more than 4,000 levels of color gradations for a smooth, natural-looking picture without posterization or image banding. Another benefit is a fast response time. Response time is the interval an LCD screen takes to from its darkest color to its lightest color and back again, measured in milliseconds (ms). And because blogs are constantly updated, every day…you’ll have an opportunity to keep the HDTV community abreast of current developments while increasing your own income at home.
Nice, eh?
ThankYouVeryMuch!
