Quick easy way to visually legalize your feed and help prevent your content from being stolen

Copy Me NotOne of the wondrous benefits of blogging is that your words can be shared near and far! Joy!

Conversely…..

One of the hells of blogging is that your words can be shared near and far and without attribution! Un-Joy!

‘Tis a sad, lamentable fact indeed, but there DO exist folks out there who will take your content and brutally slash off your credentials, claiming your work as their’s, and profiting from your blood, sweat and tears. It reminds me of Tom Lehrer’s Lobachevsky:

I am never forget the day I first meet the great Lobachevsky.

In one word he told me secret of success in mathematics: Plagiarize!

Plagiarize,
Let no one else’s work evade your eyes,
Remember why the good Lord made your eyes,
So don’t shade your eyes,
But plagiarize, plagiarize, plagiarize…
Only be sure always to call it please, “research”.

Ah, my misspent collegiate youth! But I digress. :)

This morning, I was reading the article Are You Twittering? from Blogging Tips and and noticed the following in the RSS windows:

Copyright © 2008 Blogging Tips . This Feed is for personal non-commercial use only. If you are not reading this material in your news aggregator, the site you are looking at is guilty of copyright infringement. Ooooo said I, how neat indeed! So I dashed off to the plugin site, downloaded it, uploaded it, and am currently playing around with it. It’s truly a neat idea!

Will this get rid of diehard plagiarists? Probably not…but it does give the reader a visual pause to think, do I REALLY want to screw around with this blogger if he mentions the word “legal action”?

And that, of course, is a Good Thing.

ThankYouVeryMuch!
