Six days ago I wrote my first Twitter rant over here.
It’s time for my 6th Twitter rant. I’m sure you’ll agree with the fact there’s

frosts not only your petunias but the whole garden as well, eh?
Think about it. XMPP is the protocol used for Instant Messenging thingees like:
Polling is not required!
Would you believe, there are folks who are already starting to build a Twitter-like platform with XMPP? Consider the following:
….Introducing the XMPP application server: The Twitter example
ejabberd is probably the first XMPP application server ever released. This article introduces this new concept and explains how to build a distributed event-based infrastructure for social networking. The example application that illustrate this article is a distributed Twitter-like microblogging platform.
Introduction
Since I designed the first version of the pluggable pubsub module for ejabberd in early 2007, I had in mind to turn it into a powerful application server. The XMPP application server: The Twitter case
The PEP implementation was still not enough to demonstrate that ejabberd is a fault-tolerant, highly scalable application development platform for the Web 2.0 era. I decided to start a serie of articles demonstrating how to build a distributed Twitter-like microblogging platform based on ejabberd 2.0….MORE….
So it’s certainly possible…..and….so…..why hasn’t it be done already? It would make Twitter so much more…Twitterlike. :) What do you think?
ThankYouVeryMuch!

But I’ve found that book rather confusing. I’m still confused with many topic, especially in how jabberd internal components interact. Well, I’m not native English speaker, so the fault could be on my side rather than the book. However, this “Jabber Developer’s Handbook” actually clearify many questions I’ve in mind through the use of many useful charts and diagrams. I’ve not finished …more
