You know, nothing says "Utter agonizing hellfire torment" like attending a swimming party for a bunch of 7 year old hyperactive male beings.

Nothing else on this planet gives new meaning to soul-searing torture than watching said 7 year old hyperactive male beings trying to defy gravity, mutate into alien life forms, or otherwise compel parents to thoughtfully contemplate the wonders of retro-abstinence.

As you can imagine, the above was the delightfully abbreviated rendition of my early afternoon.  However, I was able to enjoy the company of my husband during this, ahem, gala event, so it wasn’t a total parental loss (and the kids had a blast as well).

But oh!  The unheard-of blessing that was awaiting me at home!  For once having returned, I fired up my feedreader (I know, I know, that’s like saying, once returning home I started breathing again) and came across (insert dramatic musical tone here):

HEAVEN!

NIRVANA!

PARADISE!
